Cambridge Hydrotherapy Centre

Aimee Plumb, founder of Cambridge Hydrotherapy Centre, is a Start Up Loans recipient. In October 2021, Aimee took out a loan of £2,500 via Norfolk & Waveney Enterprise Services when she was 19 years old. The company, based in Great Abington in Cambridge, offers hydrotherapy for dogs, to help them through the rehabilitation process by building muscle and easing pain.

Having worked with dogs since the age of 12, Aimee built her expertise at two other hydrotherapy centres working at the weekends whilst she was at school, and I knew she had what it took to run my own business.

Just over two years on, her business is thriving, with a client base composed of those who have followed her journey from the start and those who have heard about her on social media or via recommendations. As the business continues to grow, she is hoping to take a Physiotherapy course for dogs and horses to further build on her knowledge and expertise and extend her customer base.

Founder Aimee Plumb said:

“Opting for entrepreneurship over university was a leap of faith that transformed my passion for animals into a thriving business. The idea of going to university never really appealed to me and growing up, my mum has always run her own business, which inspired me to follow my own dreams of business ownership. I’ve always preferred more hands-on, practical pursuits over traditional education and when a message popped up on my Facebook that the local Hydrotherapist was looking to sell his premises to retire, it felt like the stars were aligning.

I took out a Start Up Loan which allowed me to kickstart my dream venture – I used the finance to pay for additional equipment that has been vital to the success of the business. Without it, I would have had to delay the centre’s opening date by quite some time.”
