Abusive behaviour toward our staff and partners

The Start Up Loans Company is passionate about supporting innovation. Our mission is to make business ownership a viable career for individuals who struggle to raise finance. The Start Up Loans Scheme provides affordable loans, support and mentoring to help these individuals succeed.

Our staff and partners work very hard towards this end. We also believe that Start Up Loans applicants and borrowers have a right to be heard, understood and respected.

In certain situations the actions of people utilising the Start Up Loans Scheme make it difficult for us to respond to their enquiry or concern.

We understand that people can become frustrated if their application does not proceed as they anticipated due to matters outside their control. However, if that frustration escalates to aggression towards The Start Up Loans Company staff or the staff of our Business Support Partners or Finance Provider, then we consider that unacceptable.

Any abusive or aggressive behaviour toward our partners and/or The Start Up Loans Company staff will not be tolerated and will result in your application being declined with immediate effect. Furthermore, we reserve the right to cease any further communication with you in the event that you display any abusive, aggressive or threatening behaviour to our staff or the staff of our partners. We also reserve the right to take further action against such behaviour where appropriate, including, but not limited to, reporting the behaviour to the police and/or taking civil action pursuant to the Protection from Harassment Act 1997.

Aggressive or abusive behaviour includes any language (whether oral or written) that may cause staff to feel afraid, alarmed, threatened or abused and may include threats, personal abuse, derogatory remarks and rudeness.

We also consider inflammatory statements, remarks of a racial or discriminatory nature and unsubstantiated allegations to be abusive behaviour.
