Gabrielle Schoenenberger studied fashion at university and after graduating she moved to Edinburgh to pursue a career as a fashion designer.
While living in Scotland she felt there weren’t many home accessory ranges that were ethically made in the UK and reflected Scotland. This inspired Gabrielle to design her own range and try to fill what she saw as a gap in the market. Braw is a Scottish phrase meaning beautiful or fine so it was only fitting that she decided to name the business Braw Scotland.
Braw Scotland produces a range of tea towels, cushion covers, bags and apron all of which are designed by Gabrielle and manufactured in the UK. The range is sold in local shops across Scotland, online and at craft events. Gabrielle is currently based at home but is hoping to move into premises later this year.
Gabrielle has found the support of her mentor invaluable and they now meet on a monthly basis. She has found it particularly useful as her mentor has owned his own small businesses so can relate to Gabrielle’s journey.
