Baked In was started by Joe who was later joined in the business by his brother Patrick. Their mission is to bring baking to the masses with an innovative range of Home Baking Kits and Mug Brownies. They invented their kits with a wish to save time while baking but still enjoy the process of cooking from scratch.
The kits are made using quality dry ingredients including organic Berkshire flour, Belgian chocolate and Madagascan vanilla – all that is left to add is the fresh ingredients like butter and eggs. The kits also include essential baking equipment such as a baking tray, baking paper, butter measure and even a testing skewer.
In 2014 the team won two Great Taste Awards for their Chocolate Brownie Kit and Carrot and Walnut Cake Kit. Following a visit to Downing Street to meet the Prime Minister with the Start Up Loans Company, their business has gone from strength to strength seeing expansion from just 3 temps to having 14 employees. Joe left his IT jobs and began working for the company full time securing £160,000 in private investment.
Bakedin were also able to secure the support of legendary French chef Michel Roux Snr., known as the ‘godfather of British cooking’ who aids in the development of recipes and fundraising exercises.
